    Halloween Part 1

    Dec 31, 2011 in Uncategorized

Yes, yes, Halloween was at the end of October and here we are, at the end of December.  Let’s flash back to mid-October then, when I started having the conversation with the boys about what they wanted to be.   Joel was a little ticked off that I started the conversation about 30 minutes before bed time and that I got out all of the old costumes my mom had made for Ryan and I.  Dexter, Nicholas and I started playing dress up.  I mean, how do you know without trying clothes on?

The giraffe costume you see Nicky in is the same one Dexter wore last year.  I’m all about recycling old costumes but alas, as cute as Nicky was, he did not want to be a giraffe.  Then I got Nic to try on my cat hat and tail and followed by Ryan’s old devil’s costume.  It’s going to be a few years before they fit into that one.  My brother was a bit tall at all ages.  Dexter followed this up with a top hat and tux shirt front and then added the cat tail for good measure.  It’s all about the accessories.

The night ended with Dexter deciding that he was going to be an alligator.  (We had saved the alligator costume from the back of our neighbor’s truck – it had been destined to go to the dump.  Slightly too big for Dexter,  but that just added to the fun.)

With Dexter choosing to be an alligator, I asked Nicky if he wanted to be Captain Hook, a pirate.  What a fantastic idea!  Nicky would be Captain Hook.  Dexter would be the alligator wanting to eat the pirate. Malina would be Peter Pan.  I mean, after all, she did have the hair for it.  Joel would be brother Jon and I would apprise the role of Wendy.
